An uncomfortable moment...

Picture the scene - We were sitting in a little bar having sundowners and 'The power of love' by Jennifer Rush came on the stereo.  It was a uniting moment as each group of people at their table chuckled, looked at each other and chuckled some more. Maybe it was the fact that this tacky soft rock tune had spoilt what was otherwise a nice experience, maybe it was the alcohol...
There were 3 groups of people in the bar. Us, a 65 (or thereabouts) French couple who looked pretty stiff & boring and 3 young Aussie backpackers who'd brought their own bottle of gin and were buying tonic and ice from the kind barman who was happy for any kind of sale. Neither group looked like 'our type'
Most people we've seen over the last few weeks fit into 2 age groups. Most are young, some fit, sexy and tanned, others not. Either way, they're not really the types we identify ourselves with.  Then there are the oldies. Some are ex hippies, some look pretty, how would you say, middle class. Again, not really our types.
It was then that it dawned on us that we are somewhere in between the 2 groups, not young, not old, but in the middle. We guess that makes us middle aged. F%ck, We've never really felt like that before.
"Waiter, 2 more beers please, no, in fact it's gone 9.30, can we get the bill please, we need to get off to bed"...
